Reminders
A reminder is a time, a recurrence, and a colour. When it’s due, Luma fades up into that colour and stays there — patiently — until you tap it or it times out.
Creating one
From the app or the device’s own web page: pick a time, an optional label (up to 32 characters — Pills, Water the plants), a gradient, which devices should glow (see Satellites), and a recurrence. A system holds up to ten reminders — deliberately not hundreds; Luma is for the routines that matter.
Recurrence, precisely
| Type | Behaviour |
|---|---|
| Weekly | Fires at the set time on the days you tick. The default. |
| Bi-weekly | Same, but only on alternate weeks — anchored to the week you created it. |
| Monthly | Fires on a chosen day of the month (1–31). In shorter months it fires on the last day instead of skipping. |
| Once | Fires the next time the clock reaches that time — today if it’s still ahead, tomorrow if not — then switches itself off. It stays in your list, disabled, until you delete or re-enable it. |
Colours and gradients
Twelve slots: eight built-in gradients (Red Orange, Blue Cyan, Magenta Pink, Green Lime, White Gray, Yellow Orange, Mint Magenta, Purple Orange), the animated Rainbow, and three custom slots where you pick both colours yourself, with a live test button before saving. Gradients are gently animated — the blend slowly rotates around the ring, and switching patterns cross-fades over a second.
What happens at fire time
- The ring fades up from black over two seconds.
- If several reminders are due at once, none are lost: the ring cycles between their colours every five seconds until each is dismissed.
- Reminders aimed at other rooms light those devices at the same moment — see Satellites for what happens if one of them is offline.
- If nobody taps, the reminder clears itself after the auto-dismiss window — 4, 8, or 12 hours (12 by default), configurable in Settings.
The tap
The button on top is the whole interface, and it’s contextual:
- One reminder glowing — tap turns it off, everywhere: dismissing on any device clears that reminder on all of them.
- Several stacked — tap dismisses the one showing and moves straight to the next. Work through the pile one tap at a time.
- Hydration glows — one tap clears all pending hydration nudges at once (they count as one nag, not many).
- Nothing active — tap turns the light on as an ambient lamp and cycles through colours; it turns off again at the end of the cycle.
A dismissed recurring reminder isn’t gone — it re-arms for its next scheduled occurrence.
