Satellites
One Luma is the Main — it owns the schedule. Up to five more join as satellites: extra lights in other rooms that glow when the reminders you aim at them are due.
Adding one
- In the app: Devices → Pair New Satellite. (You need a Main first.)
- Same pairing flow as setup: pick the new device over Bluetooth, enter your Wi-Fi again, give it a display name — Kitchen, Studio. It inherits your system name automatically.
- The satellite joins the network, finds your Main by the system name, and registers. Done — it now appears in the device list with its own online badge and firmware version.
No app to hand? The Wi-Fi portal path works too: choose Satelliteon the setup page, name the system you’re joining, and enter the Main’s PIN if one is set. If the Main can’t be found automatically, you can point at its IP address directly. A satellite that fails to join saves nothing and returns to setup — there’s no half-joined state.
Rooms and targeting
Each satellite can be assigned a room — Kitchen, Living Room, Office, Bedroom, or a custom name. Every reminder (and hydration) then aims at one of:

How delivery actually works
- When a reminder fires, the Main pushesit to the matching satellites immediately, retrying a couple of times if one doesn’t answer.
- Dismissal flows both ways: tap the Kitchen satellite and the Main and every other device clear too.
- Satellites also check in with the Main every few seconds as a safety net, so a push that slipped through is caught almost immediately.
- A satellite that goes quiet for about 45 seconds — or fails three pushes in a row — is marked offline in the device list, and the Main stops waiting on it.
Housekeeping
- Removing:Devices → Remove Satellite unlinks it and tells the device to return to pairing mode, ready for a new home. Works even if the satellite is offline (it just isn’t notified).
- Promoting:from a satellite’s update page you can promote it to Main — it copies all reminders and settings across and the old Main becomes a satellite. Useful when the Main is moving out of the house.
- No automatic failover: if the Main is unplugged, satellites keep their last instructions but nothing new fires on them. Promotion is always a deliberate act, never a surprise.
